Come with us to the Kingdom of the Clouds! We are the only tour company with experience leading this journey into some of the remotest parts of Bhutan, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve got planned.
The centerpiece of this tour is the two day Royal Highlander festival, in remote Laya. Laya truly is a place above the clouds, and you’ll see that firsthand as you make the challenging trek to the top of a mountain, where the festival is held. The festival celebrates Bhutanese art, community values, and some of the finest livestock the country has to offer. You’ll get to stay with local families, and in the evenings, you’ll sit around wood stoves with your hosts, sharing your stories and hearing theirs. It can feel a little awkward at first, but your guide is there to translate and help you bridge the gap to learn more about lives that are very different from your own.
Last year, our guests got to meet the King. Yep, the King of Bhutan. But they didn’t just get to meet him, they got to see up close the unique way Bhutan’s monarchy affects the lives of everyday people. And they found out that meeting the King is always cool, of course, but most Bhutanese people you meet have a story of meeting or seeing the royal family. And you probably will too!
But don’t worry, it’s not all royalty-meeting, gritty hikes, and livestock—there’s plenty of relaxation and less intensive sightseeing, too. We’re thrilled and honored to be your guide for all of it—let us share the Bhutan we love with you!
