This special tour features one of Bhutan’s newest national events: the Royal Highlander Festival of Laya. The festival showcases traditional songs and dances, and customs of the hidden cultures of the highlands.

DAY 1
Arrive in Bangkok
 

If you can, take some time to take in the bustle of Bangkok before heading to the serenity of Bhutan. A Gray Langur representative will meet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel (Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside).

DAY 2
Start Your Bhutan Adventure
 

After breakfast, your Gray Langur representative will bring you back to the airport, where you'll hop a flight to Paro, home of Bhutan's only international airport. On the way you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Himalayas, and when you arrive, you'll board a shuttle to Thimpu, Bhutan's capital.

DAY 3
Encounter the Himalayas
 

We'll depart from Thimpu for our first campsite, Gasa. On the way, we'll stop and take in some incredible views in the Dochula Pass.

DAY 4
Trek to the Highlands
 

We'll depart Gasa early to begin the long trek up to the Army Camp just below our final destination, Laya. In the evening, we'll be treated to Bhutanese folk tales and dance.

Reach Laya and the Royal Highlander Festival
 

It's time to trek up to Laya for the festival! We'll see prized livestock and competitions in archery and more. Plus, puppies!

Attend the Royal Highlander Festival, Day Two
 

We'll be experiencing one of Bhutan's most celebrated festivals for another day, and your guide will be on hand to elaborate on the traditions you'll see taking place. At night, astronomy.

Choose Your Own Adventure in Laya
 

Choose your own adventure! More hiking, more festival, or a tour of the local monastery. Then we'll try our hands at archery.

Soak in the Hot Springs of Gasa
 

We'll head back to Gasa, and once there you'll get to soothe your trekking aches away in a local hot spring.

Explore Past and Present Punakha
 

Punakha was the capital of Bhutan until the 1960s, and you'll have the day to relax and explore the city.

DAY 10
Discover the Famed Fortress of Punakha
 

There's a ton to do, and weather permitting we'll see some amazing sights along the Pho Chho and Mo Chu Rivers. Then we'll head back to Thimpu for dinner and exploring.

Meet One of the Largest Buddhas in the World
 

We'll enjoy a tour of Thimpu and a day of exploring.

Venture Deeper Into the Heart of Thimphu
 

We'll tour a wildlife preserve and see more of Thimpu.

Climb to Iconic “Tiger’s Nest” Monastery
 

We'll head back to Paro in preparation for our departure. As a last hurrah, we'll tour the magnificent Tiger's Nest Monastery.

Depart Bhutan
 

Time to say our goodbyes and head back to Bangkok for the trip home.
